5-Star Review: A Hidden Gem in Kenedy – Taqueria Los Potros de Jalisco (aka Jalisco) is a Must-Visit! We knew it was gonna be good the moment we pulled up and saw four sheriff’s trucks parked outside – if the local law enforcement is lining up for breakfast, you know the food’s legit! This place in Kenedy, TX, totally exceeded expectations and has become an instant favorite. The service was lightning-fast and incredibly sweet. Our server (a lovely girl who was attentive and charming) had us seated, chipped, and sipping drinks in no time. She made the whole experience feel warm and welcoming – like eating with family. Now, the food… oh man, where do I start? The homemade corn tortillas are absolute perfection – fresh, fluffy, and so flavorful that I seriously wish I could buy them by the dozen to take home! I wrapped everything in them, and they elevated the meal to another level. The pancakes (yes, they do American-style breakfast too) have this unique, delicious flavor that reminds me of sarsaparilla – sweet, nostalgic, and utterly addictive. Paired with two strips of crispy, perfect bacon, it was heaven for just $7.99! My omelette was superb – a perfect balance of fresh vegetables, melted cheese, and fluffy eggs. The bacon was spot-on crispy (not greasy at all), and those beans? Exceptional – rich, savory, and clearly made with love. Everything paired beautifully with the tortillas. And for an omelette plate at just $8, the portions were generous and the quality was top-notch. I can’t rave enough about the decor either – it’s so vibrant and colorful! The Adobe-style arch windows give it that authentic Mexican hacienda vibe, and the benches/booths have beautiful carved details, like three petals with a scalloped edge. Someone obviously put a ton of care into making this place feel special and inviting. It’s clean, cozy, and full of character. In a small town like Kenedy, Taqueria Los Potros de Jalisco (commonly called Jalisco) stands out as the real deal for authentic Mexican-Texan breakfast. Amazing prices, outstanding food, and heartfelt hospitality – we’ll be back every time we’re in the area! Highly recommend for anyone craving homemade goodness without breaking the bank.

The internet didn’t lie! This place had almost 5 full stars for a reason. Service? EXCELLENT. The lady serving was so friendly and kind and happy. Food? DELISH (homemade corn and flour tortillas, a dead giveaway for quality Mexican food) The restaurant is as clean as a whistle. I’m book marking this place on my maps so I can remember to come back again! Gracias! P.S. I usually do not order enchiladas but I snuck a bite from my husband‘s plate and that’s what I’m getting next time. They were so flavorful and yummy.

I was down for a work trip and had dinner here. The Diablo shrimp was so good and flavorful! Their chips are mixed with corn and flour tortillas. I had never had a flour tortilla chip and liked them so much I asked for a bowl of just those. They also make a very good margarita on the rocks. I would definitely eat here again if I am back in the area.

Stopped here while charging our Tesla, and my goodness, so bomb! I will be dreaming about these tacos. I did two taquitos on homemade corn tortillas and they were HUGE. My husband and kids got burritos, they were the perfect size for them. I HIGHLY recommend stopping in here!

So good! I loved this place. I was one of the last guests late at night as I traveled in to town. They treated me like an honored guest and never showed any issue with me being in so close to closing. I’ll be back for sure!

Food was better and cheaper than Nuevo Progreso in Mexico, menudo, charo beans, chicken tortilla soup, refried beans, chicken cheese sizzling plate, all so good. Definitely going here again when we pass by. Can't beat the price.

I stopped to charge my Tesla and walked over for dinner. It was about 8pm and I was alone. I walked in and saw the people in front of me seat themselves, but I didn't see any sign stating whether to seat yourself or wait. So I found a table and sat. I waited about 3 mins before someone brought me chips and salsa and another two minutes before a waitress found me and got my drink order. I order a diet Pepsi and Quesadilla with Fajita chicken. The Pepsi was fresh , the salsa was flavored perfectly, and the quesadilla was soft and crispy on the outside and cooked flawlessly on the inside. Everything had great flavor and tasted so good. My waitress was also really kind and attentive. Two things needing to be corrected: add a sign at the front, and don't store the open salsa bottles next to the dirty dishes when cleaning the tables. Otherwise, I'd go back here just for the food.

Hands down , the best shrimp quesadilla I've ever had. Service was fast with friendly staff. I definitely recommend this place if you're in the area.
